Abstract Portraits

My portrait series explores emotions and feelings we all experience in life. Fatigue, loneliness, frustration, insecurity, and sorrow are all on display as well as tools we use to avoid them, namely nostalgia, the belief that another time, another place, another life would be better. Lines and color meant to exaggerate facial planes also represent our attempts to compartmentalize our lives. But those compartments often bleed into each other. Sometimes those lines get blurred, at other times the break is jagged and harsh, unexpected. This body of work confronts us by asking: “How well do we really hide our pain?”
